Darren Broad seeks to materialise internal happenings through his work, translating thought processes and the unseen landscape of the self into tangible scenes using physical materials. The automatism of the painting process and the use of carbon are an important part of the way he works. Internal chemical reactions, organic forms and natural structures in the landscape all play a part as the driving force behind Broad’s practice.
