Katie Ibbott

Katie Ibbott’s work is a response to her unique synesthetic perception of the world. Synesthesia is a neurological condition resulting in a crossing of the senses, most commonly affecting the perception of letters and number as inherently coloured. Her work has a domesticated and tactile quality through the use of soft fabrics and varying textures that are intended to provoke a sensory reaction for the viewer. The repetitive processes of sewing and painting that forms her work also simulate the rituals and routines of daily life.
