Laura Waite

Utilising drawing and sculpture, Laura Waite’s current body of work focuses on themes of containing and being contained. A process-based methodology provides a common thread throughout Waite’s practice. Through an in depth and playful inquiry of materials she aims to make enigmatic pieces that have an emotional resonance for the viewer, triggering both personal and collective associations. In relying on her sense of touch to create work Waite hopes to encourage the viewer to consider pieces in relation to their own body. Often her works become ephemeral installations for exhibition, taking into account the space as well as the viewer, linking artwork to both body and place.
