Over the past three years Lily Urbanska has discovered and nurtured a deep love of printmaking. Her interests lie in the value of print and the investment of time it takes to learn and adapt new techniques. Process is key to her love of the medium and the physical and time-consuming nature of printmaking plays to her strengths as a practitioner. Urbanska looks to the land around her for inspiration. For her recent body of work she has used aspects of landscape imagery through which to explore multiple print processes. A focus on tone and colour has come into play when dealing with the divide between underground and over ground imagery as well as the use of field recording, which in turn has led her to question what constitutes a printed image.
