It is not only the final outcome but the physical application of paint that excites Liz Powell. Predominately abstract in form, Powell’s work is less about recreating a landscape and more about capturing the essence of a landscape, conveying a sense of time and a personal journey through the layering of colour and texture. This process allows her to express the emotional and visual connection she has to a particular place. Growing up in Cornwall by the coast heavily influenced her love for her natural surroundings, but more recently, the diversity of the Andalusian landscape in Spain has been the inspiration for her practice.
