Through his work Mark Tan embarks on a personal journey in search of memories that are long forgotten in certain stages of his life. At the same time he creates new memories through constant visits to different places that strike a connection with him. He expresses the personal and multi-sensorial experience he has in visiting these specific places through a diverse range of mark-makings. From these mark-makings, he strives to uncover and encompass the thoughts and emotions that are obscured by logical boundaries within himself, thus giving each piece a shape and form that reflects his true identity.
